Short Description

APEX 48" Lightweight Foam Trailer Ramp Kit
5" Height / 5.9° Approach Angle / Set of 2

The APEX 48" Lightweight Foam Trailer Ramp Kit is built for low cars that need extra clearance and a bit more lift. Each 48 inch ramp raises the trailer interface 5 inches and softens the approach angle to 5.9 degrees so splitters, lips, and long overhangs clear cleanly without scraping. A solid high density EPS core and rugged polyurea coating keep the ramps light in the hand and strong under load, while a reinforced UHMW insert embedded into the shelf interface prevents compression and deformation where the ramp rests on the trailer. The result is a compact, durable loading solution that keeps your approach geometry consistent every time you load.

APEX Trailer Ramps For Low Cars
Loading a low car onto a trailer should not feel like a stunt. APEX trailer ramps are purpose built for sports cars, track builds, exotics, and long overhang coupes that hate steep trailer doors. Each lightweight foam ramp uses a high density structural core and a textured coating to cut the approach angle, smooth the transition, and protect splitters, lips, and exhaust. You get serious load capacity, ultra light handling, and geometry that is tuned for real enclosed and open car haulers. No more sketchy lumber stacks, no more guessing at angles, just clean, predictable loading.

The Trailer Ramp For Low Cars That Actually Works
If you're tired of stacking lumber under the trailer door, guessing at angles, and listening for that awful scrape when a low car climbs aboard, the 48" Lightweight Foam Trailer Ramp Kit from APEX is how you fix it properly. Each trailer ramp extends your trailer door and brings the approach angle down to 5.9 degrees so modern sports cars, track builds, and lowered muscle cars can load without drama. Instead of inching forward and watching the front bumper like a hawk, you get a smooth, controlled transition onto the deck.

APEX Trailer Ramps are also engineered for long service life at the exact point most ramps fail. Each 48 inch ramp uses a reinforced UHMW insert embedded into the shelf area, so the contact zone where the ramp rests on the trailer door can handle repeated load cycles without crushing or rolling over. You place the ramps, line up the car, and drive on knowing the geometry will stay consistent instead of slowly changing as the shelf deforms.

Tuned Geometry For Real Trailers And Real Cars
The 5 inch rise and 48 inch length are not random numbers. APEX tuned this kit around real enclosed and open car trailers and the real cars that go on them. That 5.9 degree approach angle softens the breakover where the tire first hits the ramp and where it transitions onto the trailer door, protecting low front ends that normally collide with that change in angle.

Compared to typical foam ramps in this size range, which often sit steeper for a similar 48 inch profile, that small numeric difference makes a very noticeable change when you are creeping a low splitter toward the trailer door and hoping you judged it right.

High-Density EPS Core That's Solid Under Load
At the core of every APEX trailer ramp is a high density expanded polystyrene (EPS) structure engineered to support thousands of pounds while staying easy to handle. The foam is produced through a controlled multi stage expansion and molding process that creates a tightly compacted, solid core rather than a hollow shell.

That solid core design spreads load through the entire ramp body, which means less localized compression where the tire contacts the ramp. In practice, it feels like driving on a solid ramp instead of something that flexes and squishes under you. There is nothing to rust, no welds to crack, and no metal to ring or transfer heat.

Rugged Polyurea Coating That Grips And Protects
The EPS core is fully encapsulated in a high performance polyurea elastomer coating that chemically bonds to the foam. Polyurea is known for its tensile strength, flexibility, and impact resistance, and here it pulls double duty. It protects the core from abrasion, chemicals, and UV exposure, and it creates a micro textured surface that grips both the trailer deck and the tire.

While other ramps rely on basic traction paint, the APEX ramp coating is designed to stay put under load. Its coefficient of friction beats typical epoxy coated floors, which helps keep the ramp from sliding while you drive on, even if there is dust, light moisture, or shop debris involved.

Reinforced Shelf Where It Matters Most
The most stressed area on a foam trailer ramp is the shelf where the trailer door or ramp actually sits. That is where compression and long term deformation usually start to show up. APEX trailer ramps address this with a reinforced UHMW insert embedded into the shelf area for added strength and durability at that critical interface.

Instead of letting the foam take that abuse alone, the UHMW reinforcement carries the contact load and helps keep the shelf face square, so the ramp profile stays stable over years of use. The result is a trailer interface that does not slowly round off, collapse, or lose its geometry after a season of hauling, which keeps your approach angle and loading feel consistent from one trip to the next.

Higher Capacity Than Typical Foam Trailer Ramps
Many foam trailer ramps in this category are commonly rated at around 1,500 pounds per ramp, or 3,000 pounds per pair. APEX ramps are engineered with a 1,750 pound per ramp load rating, achieved with denser EPS, a multi layer polyurea coating that stiffens the structure, and the reinforced UHMW shelf that protects the core at the highest stress point.

That extra headroom gives you more confidence with heavier vehicles, wider tires, and real world loading scenarios where the front axle is carrying more than just an empty curb weight. You get a ramp that is not just competitive on paper, but truly built for the way transport work actually happens.

Lightweight, Easy To Handle, Built For Real Use
Despite their strength, APEX ramps are designed to be moved around by a single person. Integrated thermoplastic carry handles are molded directly into the ramp body, not bolted or strapped on afterward. They sit at the balance point so each ramp lifts and carries easily without fighting you.

Because the ramps are solid foam with a non marring skin, you can store them in the trailer, against shop walls, or on coated floors without worrying about rust stains or sharp edges. They are quiet in use, simple to position, and built to survive years of weekend events and weekday moves.

Why This Kit Instead Of Another Workaround
A lot of people solve trailer loading with scrap lumber, makeshift blocks, or lightweight ramps that do not quite match the car's needs. APEX built the 48" Lightweight Foam Trailer Ramp Kit so you can stop improvising and start relying on a consistent, repeatable setup. You know the angle, you know the height, you know the capacity, and you know the ramps are built specifically for loading low vehicles onto trailers.

For track cars, street builds, dealer inventory, and customer vehicles that should never touch a trailer edge, this kit is the kind of quiet upgrade that pays for itself the first time you avoid a front bumper repair.

Who Is This Product Best For?

  • Track day and club racers who regularly load low cars into enclosed or open trailers.
  • Performance shops and tuners that transport modified vehicles with aggressive aero.
  • Dealers and high end resellers that move low inventory and want to protect customer cars.
  • Enthusiasts with low street cars who want a clean, repeatable loading solution instead of scrap wood and guesswork.
  • Anyone who wants an APEX level ramp solution that is lighter, stronger, and more refined than typical foam trailer ramps.

Why APEX Trailer Ramps Beat Improvised Solutions
Scrap 2x12s and random blocks are heavy, inconsistent, and never quite the same twice. APEX trailer ramps are engineered, not improvised. Approach angles are calculated for low cars, lengths are tuned around real trailers, and each ramp is built from a solid foam core that feels planted under load. You still use your existing trailer door or steel ramps, but you add a smooth, controlled ramp in front that makes every load-in feel like a plan instead of a workaround.

Lightweight Foam, Heavyweight Performance
APEX ramps deliver the same kind of loading confidence you expect from premium foam brands, but with geometry and features tuned to modern car haulers. The high density core spreads weight through the body of the ramp while staying light enough to carry with one hand. A rugged textured shell grips concrete, asphalt, and typical trailer decks, so the ramps stay put while the car climbs. The result is a compact, easy to store ramp that punches well above its weight in actual use.

Built For Track Days, Transport, And Dealers
Whether you are a weekend track regular, a small transport company, or a dealer who moves inventory every day, APEX trailer ramps give you a repeatable setup you can trust. Low cars roll on without scraping, techs and drivers stop wrestling lumber, and customer vehicles stop paying the price for bad loading angles. Pair the right ramp length and height to your trailer, and you have a loading system that works the same way every single time.

Trailer Ramp FAQs

How do I pick the right APEX trailer ramp for my trailer?
Match two things: the height you need at the trailer door and how low your vehicles are. Taller doors and more aggressive drops benefit from longer ramps with shallower angles. Measure your current door height and choose the APEX trailer ramp kit that delivers a lower approach angle than what you are fighting now.

Can I use APEX trailer ramps with both enclosed and open trailers?
Yes. APEX trailer ramps are designed to work in front of fold down doors and traditional steel ramps on both enclosed and open car haulers. As long as you have a flat, stable surface in front of the trailer to place the ramps, you are good.

Are APEX trailer ramps rated for real vehicle weights, not just small sports cars?
The structural foam core is engineered for thousands of pounds per pair, covering most sports cars, coupes, sedans, and many light trucks and SUVs. Always check the specific model rating and compare it against your front axle weight and trailer use.

How do APEX trailer ramps compare to steel or aluminum ramps?
Steel and aluminum tend to be heavy and loud, with fixed geometry. APEX ramps are lighter, quieter, and designed specifically to soften approach angles for low cars. They complement your existing trailer door or ramps instead of replacing them outright.

Can I leave the ramps in the trailer full time?
Yes. The closed cell foam and durable coating are built to handle typical trailer environments. They will not rust, do not absorb water, and can live in the trailer year round without complaint.

One Idea. Four Ways To Use It
APEX ramps solve the same problem in different places - on the trailer, in the garage, on the lift and when the car sits for a while.

From The Lift People. For The Ramp Problem.
APEX is born inside the same group that builds BendPak car lifts. That means these ramps were sketched on shop floors, tested under real cars and refined around real frustrations. APEX ramps are not just an accessory. They are part of a system. The missing piece between the floor, the trailer and the lift your car already trusts.

All The Strength. None Of The Struggle.
Steel ramps are strong but heavy. Aluminum is lighter but still a fight. APEX ramps use a solid, lightweight high-density EPS structural foam core that changes the math. The foam core spreads weight through the body instead of concentrating it at thin contact points. The outer skin is a tough, textured coating that locks to the core and grips tires and floors. Don't dread the setup. Grab an APEX ramp, drop it where it belongs and get on with the work.

What's Inside Every APEX Ramp?
APEX ramps are not painted mystery foam. Each one is a composite: a high density expanded polystyrene core locked inside a sprayed polyurea elastomer shell. The chemistry is overbuilt for what you do to ramps in the real world.

Polyurea Coating On The Outside
The outer shell is a two component polyurea elastomer sprayed directly onto the foam. Isocyanate and amine react in milliseconds to form long chains of urea linkages that crosslink into a dense, rubber tough skin. That chemistry gives you high tensile strength, very high elongation and serious abrasion resistance in one layer.

The coating wets into the EPS surface while it cures, so it does not sit on top like paint. It keys into the core and locks on, which is why you can drag APEX ramps across concrete, load on them all weekend and not watch the shell peel away.

  • Fast cure time for a seamless shell around the core.
  • High elongation and impact resistance for dropped tools and curb hits.
  • Micro textured finish that grips tires and typical shop floors.
  • Excellent resistance to oil, fuel, coolant and most common shop chemicals.

High Density Expanded Polystyrene On The Inside
The core starts as styrene beads that are pre expanded with steam, then fused under heat and pressure into a solid block. At the densities APEX uses, expanded polystyrene behaves like a structural foam: rigid enough to carry heavy loads, light enough to move with one hand and stable across real temperature swings in trailers and garages.

Closed cell structure means the beads trap gas rather than water. The core does not soak up moisture, does not rust and does not slowly turn to mush if you park on it for long stretches. Compression is distributed through the whole block instead of one thin wall, which is why APEX ramps feel planted when you drive onto them.

  • High compressive strength relative to weight for real vehicle loads.
  • Closed cell construction that resists water ingress and freeze damage.
  • Dimensionally stable across typical shop and trailer temperatures.
  • Acts as a damping layer so ramps stay quiet under the car.

Two Materials Working As One.
Put together, the EPS core and polyurea shell give APEX ramps a solid core feel with a tough, grippy surface that holds up to trailers, lifts and low cars that actually get driven.
